Designed by Kevin Howell during a trip to Brazil for peacock bass, this fly was born out of necessity. Faced with selective, pressured fish, Kevin knew he needed a pattern that breathed and pulsed naturally in the water—something alive even when not moving.
By combining long, flowing saddle hackle with specialty flash, craft fur, and fox fur, Kevin created a fly that pushes water with a pronounced head to create disturbance and draw attention, while the materials quiver and wiggle enticingly at rest. The result is a dynamic, lifelike presentation that triggers aggressive strikes from even the most finicky predators.
This pattern has become our top-producing peacock bass fly of all time, and its effectiveness doesn’t stop there. It has also proven deadly on golden dorado, largemouth and smallmouth bass, snook, northern pike, and a wide range of other predatory gamefish. When you need a fly that moves, pulses, and demands attention, this one delivers.
